Bead blasting is a process in which dry sand particles
are propelled through a nozzle by compressed air to remove contaminates
or burrs from surfaces of a work piece. Other media that can be
used include glass beads and silicon carbide.
Process Schematic
Sand is propelled through a nozzle by a pressurized
stream of air. The high velocity sand particles abrasively remove
scale, rust, and other contaminates. Sandblasting can also be used
to remove burrs and produce a decorative finish.
